Many events have been possible to see between 22-24 September across Catalunya! On 24th September our PhD students, Adrià and Aiswarya, from our research group have performed the quantum levitation exhibition with superconductors at CosmoCaixa Barcelona.
ICMAB Researcher Ferran Vallès, an former student of our group, covers the fundamentals of superconductivity in this new video. In particular, the quantum levitation phenomenon.
Superconductors were displayed in the TV prime time, jointly with batteries and thermoelectricity, as materials for the energy of the future.
The “Anual Meeting of Physic PhD students” (Trobada Anual de Doctorands en Física, TADeF2019) will take place the 20th and 21st of November in the Faculty of Science of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The main objective of this meeting is to provide a big picture of all the research in Physics at the PhD level that is done in the UAB and surrounding institutes. With this aim, the meeting will consist mainly of short talks (10’+3′) from PhD researchers and three keynote talks from international invited speakers of general interest, as well as a poster session.
Members of our group, the Superconducting Materials and Large Scale Nanostructures (SUMAN) Group, were last week during four days at CosmoCaixa for the “Fira Recerca en Directe“, where research groups from different universities and research centers present their research to primary and secondary schools and families. Our group showed how to prepare superconducting thin films, and how levitating trains work.
This year, the 17th edition of the “Fira Recerca en Directe”, organized by the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB) in collaboration with Obra Social “la Caixa”, will count with the participation of some researchers from SUMAN group , which will show, among others, the levitating superconducting train.
