The superconducting materials of the EUROTAPES European project at Catalunya Informació

The main objectives and results of the EUROTAPES European project are featured in the Catalunya Informació radio program “Som com som: un espai d’innovació i talent” with Purificació Barceló. Prof. Xavier Obradors and Prof. Teresa Puig explain some of the main features of the project:

 “Un dels objectius del projecte és fer passar molt corrent per les cintes superconductores (poden fer passar 100 vegades més de corrent que un fil de coure), i un altre, disminuir-ne el cost de producció” (Prof. Xavier Obradors)

“En el nou accelerador que es vol construir al CERN, s’utilitzarien aquestes cintes per recobrir tot l’anell i així absorbir la radiació addicional generada per les partícules accelerades” (Prof. Teresa Puig)

The EUROTAPES European project, coordinated by ICMAB-CSIC, had a budget of nearly 20 M€ for 5 years, and more than 20 partners. The results were presented this last March 2017 in Barcelona.
