Last week, a big part of SUMAN group went to Glasgow to attend to the 14th European Conference on Applied Superconductivity (EUCAS2019) hold at SEC between 1st-5th September 2019 and they presented our last results in superconductivity research.
A new edition of the photo and video contest of the ICMAB, FOTICMAB 2019, has been opened between April 15th and May 26th and the winners were announced during last Friday’s ICMAB party .

I am Kapil Gupta from India, where I received my PhD (Physics) in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, and later on, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Taiwan. I have recently joined the SUMAN group as a postdoc, to collaborate on the TEM studies of superconducting thin films in ULTRASUPERTAPE project, under the supervision of Prof. Teresa Puig. I am delighted to be here and looking forward to learn and collaborate with all of you.
This week (13-17 May), our ULTRASUPERTAPE project post-doc, Max Sieger, went to the Ernst-Ruska Centre for Electron Microscopy at the Forschungszentrum Jülich near Aachen in Germany to participate in high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM) experiments on superconducting thin films.
Members of our group, the Superconducting Materials and Large Scale Nanostructures (SUMAN) Group, were last week during four days at CosmoCaixa for the “Fira Recerca en Directe“, where research groups from different universities and research centers present their research to primary and secondary schools and families. Our group showed how to prepare superconducting thin films, and how levitating trains work.
This year, the 17th edition of the “Fira Recerca en Directe”, organized by the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB) in collaboration with Obra Social “la Caixa”, will count with the participation of some researchers from SUMAN group , which will show, among others, the levitating superconducting train.
