Jose Antonio Peña, student on the last year of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology degree (UAB), has joined SUMAN group to do the final year degree project on “Growth of YBCO layers on CZO buffered substrates” under the supervision of Dr. Cornelia Pop.

During July 2014, Dr. Jaume Gazquez visited Oak Ridge National Laboratory to work with the STEM Group on complex oxides interfaces by means of aberration corrected scanning electron microscopy techniques.
From 21st to 27th of July, Dr. Anna Palau visited the synchrotron radiation source BESSY II at Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin to perform X-PEEM space resolved magnetic measurements in hybrid superconductor-magnetic systems.
Zack Khayat, student of Materials Science and Engineering at Pennsylvania State University from the group of Susan Trolier-McKinstry, spent three months in our laboratories to work on “Growth and characterization of Atomic Layer Deposited BiFeO3 for Energy Applications” under the supervision of Dr. Mariona Coll.

Between 14th and 18th July, Bernat Mundet attended to the TEM-UCA Summer Workshop “Transmission Electron Microscopy of Nanomaterials” hold at University of Cádiz. The workshop was devoted to review the advancements of Transmission Electron Microscopy, both imaging and spectroscopic techniques, in the characterization of a wide range of nanomaterials.

From May to July 2014, Victor Rouco went to Seconda Università di Napoli and the CNRS-SPIN to study the “Transport properties of superconducting YBCO nanowires grown by CSD”, under the supervision of Prof. Francesco Tafuri.
The Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad of Spain has awarded the Retos-Colaboración 2014 project named “DISEÑO DE UNA NUEVA GENERACIÓN DE GENERADORES Y EQUIPOS AUXILIARES PARA ENERGÍA EÓLICA BASADOS EN SUPERCONDUCTORES” leaded by GAMESA INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY, S.L with a total amount of 853.592€ (256.092€ granted and 268.875€ loaned). Universidad de Zaragoza and us (SUMAN IP: Dr. Xavier Granados) participate as a partners and we will receive 176.315€ of grant for 4 years.
