Teresa Puig, ERC researcher, in #LasCientíficasCuentan
The project “Las Científicas Cuentan” is an initiative of the CSIC Delegation in Brussels financed by the FECYT. The aim of the project is to bring basic science to the general public, through the story of women scientists who have been awarded with a ERC project during the past years. From SUMAN, Teresa Puig (ERC-Advanced Grant) participate in the project.
The presentation will be on Wednesday, September 19 in Barcelona with a talk by Teresa Puig on superconducting materials (7 pm).
Videos, talks and roundtables are the outcomes of this project, which will have its kick-off on Friday, September 14, in Madrid. Teresa will participate in a roundtable on “Women in science” in Barcelona on Friday, 21 September. More details below.
Kick-off in Madrid
The kick-off of the project will take place on Friday, September 14, 2018, at 10 am at the “Biblioteca Pública Municipal Eugenio Trías – Casa de Fieras del Retiro” in Madrid, and will count with the opening by Elena Domínguez (CSIC Vicepresident of International Relations), the presentation of the project by Jorge Velasco (CSIC Delegate in Brussels), with talks and videos by some of the researchers involved in the project (Ángela Nieto (CSIC-UMH), Leonor Peña (IH-CSIC), and with a roundtable from Pilar López Sancho (Women in Science Committee at CSIC) and Pilar López García (Agencia Estatal de Investigación).
Presentation in Barcelona
The presentation in Barcelona (Biblioteca Sagrada Família, 7 pm) will be on Wednesday, 19 September, and will count with the presentation of the project by Irina Márquez and Berta Martínez (CSIC in Brussels), and with the video and talk by Teresa Puig on the “ULTRASUPERTAPE” project on superconducting materials.

About the project
“Las Científicas Cuentan” es un proyecto que prevé acercar la ciencia básica o fundamental a la sociedad general, a través del relato de las científicas que ha
n obtenido un proyecto del Consejo Europeo de Investigación, que es el organismo europeo que financia la ciencia que se encuentra en la frontera del conocimiento.
En todas las acciones de divulgación previstas, el papel protagonista lo tiene por un lado la mujer científica y por otro, la sociedad que se encuentra más alejada de estos círculos de conocimiento. La propuesta plantea la realización y difusión de micro vídeos resumen de los proyectos de las investigadoras y un ciclo de mesas redondas repartidas por todo
el territorio nacional en las que investigadoras beneficiarias de proyectos ERC van a contar sus proyectos en un lenguaje de fácil comprensión.
Tras la celebración de cada una de estas charlas los asistentes van a interpretar la información dada de los proyectos, bien a través de dibujos, comentari
os o reflexiones. Además, todo este feedback se va a recoger en una agenda para el año 2019 que se distribuirá por diferentes sectores de la sociedad.
El proyecto va a dar a conocer la ciencia que financia Europa y va a explicar cómo “la ciencia fundamental” no está tan alejada de nuestra vida diaria. El objetivo principal es crear espacios de encuentro en los que personas pertenecientes a ámbitos muy diferentes se reúnen y se descubren.
